Overview:
Occupying this position at the Sleep Disorders Center would require you to render top-notch patient testing and education. The role demands a keen eye for patient sensitivity across all age ranges, necessitating skills in delivering specialized care to patients of varying ages, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric groups.
Responsibilities:
Executes Sleep Examinations. Provides excellent service which assures patients are at ease during their time at the sleep lab. Provides a complete orientation and education to familiarize the patient with the testing procedures. Responds with care to the patient's needs throughout the testing process. Complies with physicians' instructions, AASM criteria, International 10-20 measurement, and center standards when performing patient hook-up. Competent in using different montages, such as Parasomnia and full seizure montage. Strictly follows the guidelines concerning bio-calibrations and the lights off/on process.
Ensures proper documentation by recording clinical encounters and patient arrival in the electronic record. Collects pre and post-study paperwork from the patient. Observes and records the patient's position during the study. Maintains a record of completed studies.
Time management is an essential skill for healthcare professionals. This healthcare professional efficiently manages his/her time, ensuring that patients are seen on time and testing is completed within an appropriate time frame. Prioritization and flexibility are key, as unexpected situations can occur at any time. The ability to adjust schedules and remain focused allows for efficient and productive work.
Ensures top-notch services (Medical Apparatus, Structure, Client Insights). Resolves equipment problems and keeps records: adheres to guidelines for equipment and premises upkeep, sanitizing, and storage. Reports defective equipment in a timely and accurate manner as per company policy and regulatory requirements. Keeps close track of sleep equipment and maintains it appropriately. Readily takes part in departmental initiatives aimed at improving quality and patient satisfaction surveys.
The implementation of therapy modalities, particularly CPAP Titration, BiPAP, BiPAP ST, ASV, IVAPS, is regularly conducted by the individual. In compliance with insurance requirements, Split Night studies are also conducted. Titrations are performed following established policies and procedures, and following the instructions of the medical director or ordering physician.
In conclusion, the assistant's evaluation, and analysis of sleep studies is a meticulous yet essential role in assisting physicians in making diagnoses and decisions. To enhance the accuracy and reliability of their services, the assistant participates in monthly AASM Interscorer Reliability modules, generating statistical and interpretive report templates for the reviewing and interpreting physicians. Overall, the assistant skills are invaluable in the field of sleep study evaluations and analysis, and their skill set is fundamental to the care given to patients in need.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, Required
Associates, Preferred
Associate Degree in polysomnography, respiratory therapy or other health related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Completed clinical rotation in polysomnography.
1 or more years of experience in a sleep disorders center, respiratory therapy or EEG.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
National: Registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT),
State: Registered by the North Carolina Medical Board as a Board Registered
Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT).
Must maintain current credentials on file.
