Job Description
The role of the Clinical Informatics Specialist III revolves around the coordination, integration, and evaluation of clinical processes across Health System Health System. This is conducted by leveraging clinical information technology, designing streamlined processes, and utilizing best practices to enhance patient care, quality, and financial targets. Furthermore, they are actively engaged in collaborating on the development and execution of technology solutions aimed at improving the care and overall experience for patients, healthcare providers, and team members within Health System. In addition to this, the position involves shaping the informatics strategy, team members, and approaches across the Health System, while actively participating in national standards, professional fields, and interactive vendor networks. An experienced clinical informatics professional who collaborates closely with the Medical Director on Surgical/Procedural programs, providing insight into strategic planning, surgical IT management, and improving the clinical staff's professional journey. HYBRID: Requires onsite presence for one to two weeks monthly.
Essential Job Function:
- Leads the efforts concerning the advancement, structuring, supervision, and advocacy of informatics programs, aiding in the acceptance of electronic health records (EHRs) and fostering partnerships with both internal and external medical professionals to encourage the utilization of technology and enhance clinical standards.
- Guides improvement teams in the development and enhancement of clinical structures, prerequisites, and operational sequences.
- Responsible for guiding clinical and operational improvement teams in documenting designs, requirements, and workflows, and transforming these into IT team specifications.
- Aids in securing approval from stakeholders and governance for these designs.
- Directs and monitors system-wide initiatives and projects aimed at maximizing the effectiveness of IT systems implementation and redesign.
- Guarantees that the IT systems are crafted in a manner that aligns with the clinical targets of providing reliable care and creating a seamless interaction for patients and healthcare professionals.
- Takes an active role in safety campaigns and enacts strategies to reduce risks in line with the necessary regulations.
- Functions as a crucial link between information systems, relaying information to set priorities and develop specialized methods for service categories and distinctive physician issues.
- Cooperates with the entire organizational structure to ensure excellence, enable change, and foster the enhancement of informatics competencies.
- Helps in generating and sustaining knowledge base articles and/or technical and procedural documentation as necessary.
- Assist in the coordination of educational content and training programs for internal and external physicians, support staff, and IHS team members by working closely with the IHS training team, super users, and other clinical support leaders.
- Mentors support junior Clinical Informatics Specialists by imparting knowledge and honing their expertise in best practices.
- Expected to complete any extra assignments given.
Education
- Required: A minimum of a Bachelor degree Clinical training and licensure as appropriate to clinical background and state requirements including but not limited to nurse, therapist, health administration, public health, social services. Experience
- Required: Five years in clinical informatics and Epic Clinical Applications Five years of experience in a complex healthcare setting Proficient knowledge and demonstrated experience of relevant regulatory requirements, such as HITECH, HIPAA Privacy & Security and other CMS regulations and guidelines. In-depth knowledge of clinical practice, health care administration; patient safety; information and data management systems and associated software applications and configurations Mastery of skills required to support the build and management of data systems and the ability to analyze complex data sets to address clinical, operational, and personnel management issues Change management, project management skills, including financial and budget management, scheduling and resource management. Proficient in Quality improvement and IT methodologies. Agile, LEAN, product, Agil, ITIL
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Licensure in the state if required by the state board. Quality, safety or process improvement certification (examples: Agile, LEAN) or similar comparable experience. Preferred:Board certification or degree in Clinical Informatics. If a physician, a board certification from a specialty board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association. Epic certificationsClinical Advanced Certification (RN, PharmD, etc.)
