Job Description
Overview:
A Nerve Conduction Technologist aids in the administration of neurodiagnostic exams such as nerve conduction studies, which evaluate the peripheral nerves and muscles' functionality and condition. With supervision, they help educate and ready patients for electromyography (EMG) tests and collaborate with doctors to assist in diagnosing and tracking neurological ailments and diseases, ultimately enabling the creation of suitable treatment strategies for individuals.
Responsibilities:
Assists in performing regular examinations to evaluate brain function for the purpose of diagnosing and managing neurological conditions, such as epilepsy and sleep disturbances.
Assists in conducting Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER) and Visual Evoked Response procedures to assess distinct sensory pathways and detect irregularities in the nervous system.
Daily, faxes were sent to referring physicians containing Nerve Conduction Reports for timely communication and collaboration to facilitate accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
Ensures that equipment is properly calibrated and the workspace is hygienic, while also keeping a sufficient supply of neurodiagnostic materials in order to prioritize patient safety, prevent infections, and facilitate the efficient conduct of neurodiagnostic tests.
Utilizing a range of Nerve Conduction Studies, including examinations like Blink Reflex tests and Repetitive Nerve Stimulation, can offer a thorough evaluation of nerve performance, which is beneficial in detecting disorders that impact the peripheral nervous system.
Patients are informed and readied for Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) studies and EMG to enhance patient comprehension and collaboration for better diagnostic results.
Support and educate new staff members as needed to foster a united and well-informed team that provides top-notch neurodiagnostic services.
Carries out additional tasks as required.

- High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- 1 Year conduction nerve conduction studies
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED
Required:
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider, Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required from one of the following: American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (RMA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA).
