Job Description
A crucial aspect of the Occupational Therapist II's role involves the assessment of patients' conditions, the development and implementation of rehabilitation strategies aimed at promoting a return to optimal functional status, enhancing mobility, alleviating discomfort, bolstering physical strength, and preventing or correcting malformations resulting from illnesses or injuries. Furthermore, this job entails the provision of education to patients and their families, the delivery of comprehensive care to patients in the clinical setting, and the fulfillment of occupational therapy responsibilities with minimal supervision. The therapist is tasked with initiating effective communication with interdisciplinary team members, delivering confident care to familiar patients, and advocating on behalf of their patients and colleagues. The position requires independent practice within the primary facility, potential guidance in complex cases, and potential challenges in offering services across multiple locations.
Essential Job Function:
- Evaluates and addresses a variety of diagnoses and patients with heightened medical intricacies.
- Assesses patients' physical capabilities, medical records, and functional restrictions meticulously in order to establish tailored rehabilitation plans.
- Delivers interventions such as therapeutic exercises to help patients enhance their strength, flexibility, and ability to move.
- Provides education to patients and their families regarding treatment plans, exercises to be done at home, and strategies for self-care in order to enhance the effectiveness of recovery.
- Engages in cooperative efforts with peers to establish and carry out discharge strategies and suggestions for ongoing treatment, sometimes seeking assistance from team members.
- Tracks and notates the development of patients, the effectiveness of treatments, and how patients respond to various interventions for the purpose of making necessary treatment plan alterations.
- Working together with teams from different departments is crucial for ensuring that patient care is coordinated and that treatment outcomes are holistic.
- Supports in onboarding and educating new team members, illustrates a sustained effort to boost the effectiveness and expertise of fellow workers.
- Executes any other responsibilities as designated.
Education
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
Experience
- Required: 2 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Licensed by the North Carolina Occupational Therapy Board; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
