Job Description
In a clinical pharmacy, the Pharmacy Coordinator supervises the clinical, operational, and regulatory aspects to ensure the provision of pharmaceutical care. This position might involve having the clinical pharmacy license and managing a team of subordinates within a particular practice domain. Working alongside other pharmacy leaders, the Pharmacy Coordinator assesses the pharmacy's operations and is tasked with optimizing them to enhance the standard and effectiveness of patient care.
Essential Job Function:
- Manages the activities of pharmacy professionals and technical staff by organizing, assigning, guiding, and evaluating the work output.
- Conducts assessments to verify that pharmacy staff members are capable of executing their tasks accurately and appropriately, ensuring that quality standards are met efficiently.
- Supervises and evaluates the utilization and delivery of patients' medication routines and assesses the adequacy of serum drug concentrations.
- Confirms that the prescribed dose is appropriate considering the clinical aims and desired results.
- Reviews and evaluates adverse effects of medications and the actions taken by pharmacists.
- Aligns clinical pharmacy tasks with those of physicians, nurses, and laboratory professionals, contributing to the development and facilitation of clinical pathways and therapeutic protocols.
- Provides training and advice to pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other individuals on the procedural capabilities essential for overseeing medication regimens.
- Manages pharmacy record-keeping processes, auditing tasks, and enforcement of drug control protocols in accordance with County, State, and Federal legislation.
- Executes further tasks as necessary or instructed.
Education
- Required: PharmD.
- Preferred: PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency.
Experience
- Required: 3 years of pharmacy practice experience.
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Active license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina or eligible to obtain pharmacy license within two (2) months of hire; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
