Overview:
The position of Phlebotomy Lead is responsible for supervising and organizing phlebotomy services to ensure that blood specimen collection is precise, operations are efficient, and results are delivered promptly. This role works with a certain degree of autonomy in creating protocols for the blood drawing process, and in training and guiding personnel. By effectively managing the phlebotomy team, implementing superior methods, and fostering a culture of excellence, the Phlebotomy Lead plays an essential role in supporting the healthcare team and maintaining high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
Plans and organizes blood collection services by managing staff availability and streamlining operations, resulting in streamlined resource allocation and a seamless experience for patients.
Training and guiding phlebotomy personnel to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, which in turn enhances the quality and precision of patient venipuncture services.
To guarantee reliable patient care and consistency, the assistance designs and preserves standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the phlebotomy process.
Maintains a record of phlebotomy supplies, overseeing their availability and storing them appropriately to ensure a seamless workflow and uninterrupted blood collection services.
Works alongside laboratory staff and healthcare colleagues to find solutions, streamline processes, and boost the standard of phlebotomy procedures.
Carries out additional responsibilities as instructed.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Required:
High School diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
2 years clinical experience in a high complexity laboratory
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED
Required:
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
Current Phlebotomy certification from one of the following approved agencies:
ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) OR ASPT (American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians) OR NHA (National Healthcareer Association).
Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant or Medical Laboratory Assistant by ASCP or AMT is acceptable.
Current Licensed Advanced EMT/Paramedic Or Certified MT/MLT (ASCP, AMT)
