Job Description

A Program Manager Certified is accountable for supervising the coordinated delivery and performance of programs made up of various interconnected projects and project portfolios. This position concentrates on forming program and portfolio strategies, aligning priorities, and maximizing resources, budgets, and schedules across project portfolios to attain specific business results. Working closely with sponsors and interdisciplinary teams, the Program Manager ensures the management of interdependencies, risks, and compromises, ensuring that projects align with organizational objectives collectively. The role carries overall responsibility for program and portfolio outcomes, from shaping the overarching approach and governance to execution and realizing post-delivery value. This role may oversee programs that encompass high-complexity initiatives, emphasizing portfolio-level oversight, performance tracking, and strategic decision-making to facilitate consistent, value-focused delivery.

Essential Job Function:

  • It aims to synchronize project portfolios with the overarching organizational strategy, ensuring harmony with business goals and successful outcome achievement.
  • Management of Portfolio Oversight and Performance: Supervises numerous projects concurrently, tracking their development, relationships, risks, and the realization of advantages. Examines performance metrics across the portfolio to pinpoint trends, prompt corrective measures, and maximize results.
  • Resource & Financial Optimization: Handles the budget efficiency and resource allotment across project assortments, encompassing capacity, expenditure, and preferences. Works in conjunction with finance and top management to rectify funding disagreements, tackle discrepancies, and ensure the proficient usage of communal resources.
  • As the focal point for Stakeholder & Governance Management, the primary responsibility is to convene program governance discussions with sponsors and senior stakeholders, ensuring a comprehensive review of portfolio status, trade-offs resolution, and decision facilitation. The role also entails presenting relevant portfolio-level reports, insights, and recommendations that are tailored to the specific needs of the leadership team.
  • Managing risks, dependencies, and competing priorities across multiple projects requires a strategic and organized approach to maintain oversight and control. By actively monitoring these factors, project managers can anticipate potential challenges and take necessary steps to mitigate them before they impact progress. Effective resolution of issues is key to preventing delays and ensuring that projects are completed successfully.
  • Effective Team Leadership requires the capacity to encourage and lead teams, create unity, and arrive at informed choices
  • Budget Management includes monitoring and evaluating program finances, following project costs for supplies, equipment, and services, and collaborating with the finance department to guarantee adherence to financial rules and effective program implementation. Recognizing cost differences and making adjustments to remain within budget limits is a critical aspect of this role.
  • The communication management role encompasses collaborating and planning with program and portfolio sponsors to develop meeting agendas. A key aspect of this position is the ability to communicate information clearly and effectively to a diverse group of stakeholders. Maintaining strong connections with stakeholders, including hospital departments, physicians, vendors, and regulatory agencies, is essential for addressing concerns related to the program and obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Frequently generates and showcases program and portfolio reviews, incorporating updates on progress, metrics on efficiency, and crucial takeaways for primary stakeholders, including senior executives, team members, and clients.
  • Encouraging cooperation between different functions: Synchronizes and tracks inter-project interdependencies within the program and portfolio, collaborates flawlessly with assorted teams from distinct departments to secure the accomplishment of the program.
  • Executes any other responsibilities as delegated.

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree.

Experience:

  • Required: 7-10 years in project management

Licensure/Certification/Listing:

  • Required: PfMP, PMP, Lean, and/or SCM certification.
