Overview:
Summary: The opportunity is for an e-ICU role with LeBauer Pulmonary Care Medicine, part of Cone Health, where Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine Physicians provide round-the-clock monitoring of ICUs through telemedicine. This position requires authorization for remote work in specific states.
Alabama, Florida, and Georgia are states that have been given authorization
Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina are all states located in the southeastern region of the United States
Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia are three states located in the southeastern region of the United States.
Responsibilities:
Education and Training: Stays updated and professionally competent by reading publications and participating in regional and national conferences. Takes part in patient, staff, and professional development programs. Engages in educational and research activities, such as studying didactic materials, attending teaching events, providing clinical instruction, and contributing to clinical research efforts.
Liaison: Engages in liaising responsibilities with colleagues and contributes to establishing connections with patient referral channels. Ensures referring doctors are updated on patient care progress and results.
Delivering both direct and indirect care to patients within designated areas is a key responsibility. Offering medical oversight to the interdisciplinary team, as well as guiding and monitoring residents and medical students in their assigned tasks, is essential. Contributing to relevant clinical research endeavors is also part of the role. Ensuring precise and prompt documentation of patient care activities is crucial for the maintenance of current and accurate medical records used for billing.
Professional Standards: Abides by the professional regulations set by MCHS, such as the Medical Staff By-Laws, Service Excellence pledges, practice guidelines, physician requirements, and guidelines for professional appearance. Respects the Socratic Oath, safeguards patient privacy, and behaves ethically constantly. Collaborates effectively and supports the objectives and benchmarks of MCHS.
Quality and Safety: Engages in medical audits, quality enhancement initiatives, investigations, peer evaluations, and other assessments related to professional care standards as necessary. Offers medical oversight and guidance to the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes. Maintains adherence to safe practice protocols and regulatory requirements.
Quality Enhancement: Commits to ongoing enhancements and implementation of proven practices in pursuit of superior healthcare and customer service (with results reaching the top decile or higher). Adheres to MCHS policies, relevant legislation, and statutes when documenting records. Contributes to crafting clinical protocols, operational methods, initiatives, and suggestions to enhance the standard and effectiveness of healthcare delivery. Collaborates in sharing designated on-call duties with fellow physicians within the designated departments.

Practitioner must have completed the number of years in a residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and met all other requirements for eligibility to receive board certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in the primary medical specialty (or subspecialty) for which the Practitioner is applying for Clinical Privileges. If five (5) or more years have elapsed since the Practitioner completed such residency program, the Practitioner currently must have board-certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in such specialty (or subspecialty).
Fully licensed to practice Medicine in the state of NC.
Meets requirements of the Moses Cone Health System Medical Staff by-laws and obtains the appropriate level of medical staff privileges.
The Practitioner must have a current, and valid DEA registration number, with no involuntary limitations on prescriptive authority (schedule limitations) resulting from DEA disciplinary actions.
Each Practitioner shall maintain in force professional liability insurance as determined by the Moses Cone Health System Medical Executive Committee and Board of Trustees; currently $1 million each incident and each occurrence, and $3 million aggregate. The Practitioner must provide proof of professional liability insurance coverage, with a current certificate of insurance or a current copy of the policy. The professional liability insurance coverage shall be with a company approved by the North Carolina Insurance Commission and otherwise satisfactory to the Board of Trustees.
