Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers high-quality patient care and ensures positive patient outcomes through the compassionate and efficient application of nursing knowledge. Working under general supervision, this role promotes professional nursing practice by coordinating patient care through the nursing process and multidisciplinary collaboration. Urogynecology, also referred to as Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS), is a subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology focused on the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of pelvic floor dysfunction in women. These disorders result from compromise of the pelvic floor musculature, connective tissue, and neural support, leading to dysfunction of the lower urinary tract, gastrointestinal tract, and pelvic organs. Common conditions include stress and urge urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, fecal incontinence, voiding dysfunction, and defecatory disorders. Treatment modalities encompass comprehensive conservative management including behavioral therapy, pelvic floor physical therapy, and pharmacologic interventions as well as advanced reconstructive and minimally invasive surgical procedures.

Essential Job Function:

  • Assesses patient requirements and conditions in the assigned unit to provide nursing care, ensuring that all patients receive the necessary and proper attention.
  • Studies patient information, comprising medical histories, diagnostic outcomes, and current conditions, to develop personalized nursing care plans.
  • Sets up nursing processes like medication delivery and therapies to offer extensive and effective patient care.
  • Matches medical documentation to regulatory standards and internal guidelines to maintain compliance.
  • Assessing patient feedback on interventions and determining the need for additional interventions to fulfill established care goals.
  • Cooperates with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to secure optimal care plans.
  • Carry out additional tasks as required.

Education

  • Required: Associate's Degree in NursingPreferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Experience

  • Required: 1 year as a Registered NursePreferred: 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations

Licensure/Certification/Listing

  • Required:Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact stateBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
