Job Description
The main duty of the Environmental Service Technician is to clean and sanitize patient rooms, treatment areas, restrooms, and public spaces in accordance with the hospital's standards to address the customer service demands of the facility. Working closely with supervision, this position is committed to disease prevention by following the environmental and infection control protocols set by regulatory bodies.
Essential Job Function:
- The accurate documentation of items was ensured by recording cleaning tasks on the appropriate forms.
- Establishes effective communication with the supervisor to relay information about current responsibilities and resolve any intricate or urgent matters.
- Assists in monitoring supply levels to ensure they are aligned with both departmental requirements and budgetary limitations.
- Contributes to maintaining the cleanliness and operational status of equipment and storage spaces to facilitate departmental efficiency.
- Manages carpet stain removal independently to maintain a hygienic and inviting atmosphere for guests and individuals in care.
- Supports in the selection and proper use of cleaning agents and gear to avoid damage while effectively cleaning to decrease the risk of illness transmission.
- Executes cleaning routines according to departmental guidelines to address customer needs, incorporating tasks such as routine and weekly cleaning, discharge room cleaning, medication room cleaning, IV storage room cleaning, and refrigerator cleaning.
- Avoids direct contact with medications and is escorted in locations where narcotics are accessible.
- Adjusting based on priorities involves making flexible modifications to ensure that the most important needs are met.
- Handles any other assignments provided.
Education
- Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Experience
- Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse
- Preferred: 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state, BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
