Overview:
The Scheduler Cancer Center is responsible for organizing and arranging various medical oncology appointments for both new and existing patients, including but not limited to laboratory visits, chemotherapy sessions, consultations with physicians or Advanced Practice Providers, injections, dietary consultations, genetics counseling, and educational sessions. This position operates under close supervision and may extend support in managing both internal and external referral appointments based on the requests made by healthcare providers, nurses, and other members of the patient care team to ensure patients receive the necessary healthcare services.
Responsibilities:
- Supports in arranging all requested medical oncology appointments as directed by healthcare professionals or their team members, adhering to the campus's scheduling protocols.
- Responding promptly to phone calls and voicemails from patients regarding scheduling to handle inquiries, requests, and issues in a timely fashion.
- Assists fellow schedulers at the cancer center with urgent scheduling requirements, also helping out when their workload is overwhelming.
- Displays politeness, respect, professionalism, and authenticity during interactions with patients, also confirming comprehension of appointments when necessary.
- Addressing patient inquiries concerning appointments and collaborating with patients to address any potential problems, worries, or discrepancies.
- Rearranges patient appointments as needed and notifies the physician/nurse in case a patient needs to reschedule their chemotherapy appointment.
- Arranges appointments that necessitate prior approval according to set criteria, ensuring authorization is secured prior to service provision.
- Carries out additional tasks as required.

- 6 months of appointment scheduling, medical office front desk, or patient care experience.
