Job Description
Overview:
The primary duty of the Sterile Processing Technician Lead is to supports in the proper sterilization of medical instruments and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining the quality of patient care. Additionally, this role involves verifying that decontamination processes align with established policies, promptly communicating any breakdowns in sterilization, and promptly removing any defective or compromised instruments.
Responsibilities:
It is essential to follow correct procedures when sterilizing instrument sets, trays, and packaged items to maintain patient safety.
Takes part in the sanitation and disinfection of tools and equipment following the regulations laid out by the department and the recommendations provided by the manufacturer, all the while employing standard precautionary measures to uphold safety standards.
Putting together equipment while adhering to sterilization protocols and checking for any defects, breakages, or missing elements, swapping them out when required.
Puts together, encases, and sanitizes sets of instruments and trays based on the inventory roster to uphold accuracy and quality standards.
Adheres to standard infection control protocols when handling contaminated items and follows proper procedures for disposing of hazardous waste when required.
Thoroughly examining and logging sterilization results for each cycle is crucial for maintaining safety standards.
Keeps an appropriate inventory of instruments, supplies, and equipment to oversee the expiration dates of supplies.
Undertakes any other responsibilities as directed.

Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- 3 years of experience in Sterile Processing or a related field
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED
Required:
Will accept any one of the following credentials:
Certified Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) or Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT)
