Job Description
In a hospital setting, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Hospital plays a crucial role in supporting the Registered Nurse or healthcare professional to maintain excellent patient care standards. This involves closely collaborating with supervisors, contributing to the development and implementation of hospital-specific care plans, and ensuring the readiness of equipment for procedures across the hospital systems.
Essential Job Function:
- Helps the care team by collecting patient history and medical information for comprehensive case documentation in hospital records.
- Supports in crafting and carrying out care plans as instructed by the Registered Nurse or healthcare professional to fulfill the needs of individuals undergoing treatment in a hospital environment.
- Ensures that sterile environments meet Cone Health standards through the implementation of appropriate techniques and safety protocols.
- Furnishes patients and their families with healthcare information that is easily understood to aid in the implementation of the care plan.
- Plays a role in addressing emergencies and safety hazards by employing personal protective gear and hospital protocols to prevent patient harm.
- Handles additional tasks as given.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Diploma in Practical Nursing; Completion of Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required within 4 years of hire.
Experience:
- Required: None; New LPN Graduates must be accepted into the Cone Health LPN Academy.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Current LPN license in North Carolina; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
