Job Description
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Hospital supports the Registered Nurse or healthcare provider in a hospital setting to provide high-quality patient care. Working under close supervision, this role develops and implements hospital-based care plans and prepares equipment for procedures across the organization's hospital systems.
Essential Job Function:
- One of the tasks involved in supporting the care team is obtaining patient history and medical information to assist in creating comprehensive case documentation in hospital medical records.
- Aids in developing and implementing care strategies as per the instructions of the Registered Nurse or healthcare professional to support the requirements of patients undergoing treatment in a hospital.
- Confirms that the proper techniques and safety guidelines are observed in line with Cone Health policies on maintaining sterile environments.
- Provides healthcare guidance to patients and their families in order to facilitate understanding of the treatment directives.
- Plays a role in addressing emergencies and safety hazards by employing personal protective equipment and healthcare facility safety measures to prevent harm to patients.
- Undertakes additional tasks as required.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Diploma in Practical Nursing; Completion of Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required within 4 years of hire.
Experience:
- Required: None; New LPN Graduates must be accepted into the Cone Health LPN Academy.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Current LPN license in North Carolina; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
