Job Description
The Nursing Technician supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed.
The Nurse Tech Academy (NTA) stands out as a specialized educational intervention crafted to facilitate the assimilation of Nurse Techs and EMTs into the cultural framework of Cone Health. Through an intensive 3-week program, participants are exposed to diverse learning modalities geared towards equipping them with the skills necessary to excel in their assigned areas of responsibility.
The curriculum is taught by subject matter experts to provide a rich understanding of relevant content to your practice environment. At the completion of the Academy, all participants will be encouraged to obtain their NT+3 credentials 60-90 days following the program. The plus 3 skills are sterile technique, IV care and Foley catheterization. While this program is ideal for candidates without any hospital experience, it is beneficial for seasoned Nurse Tech's/EMT's who are new to Cone Health.
Your orientation schedule will be arranged based on the NTA dates, permitting you to train in your assigned department when classes are not in session. Your pay rate and benefits will remain the same throughout the program. The upcoming NTA is expected to commence during the week of April 6th, 2026. Kindly consult the provided schedule. After you have completed the NT Academy, you will switch to the schedule of your home unit and complete department-specific training as indicated by your hiring manager.
- Commencing at 8:00 AM on Monday, April 6, 2026, there will be a new employee orientation lasting until 1:00 PM
- Participants are required to attend the clinical training on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, spanning from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Thursday, April 9, 2026: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
- Starting at 8:00 AM and concluding at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, April 14, 2026
- The timeframe allocated for tasks on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, spans from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- As the clock strikes 8:00 AM on Thursday, April 16, 2026, events will unfold until noon
- From early morning until midday, on April 20, 2026, the schedule extends from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Tuesday, April 21, 2026
- Wednesday, April 22, 2026: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- In the early hours of Thursday, April 23, 2026, spanning from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- On Friday, April 24, 2026, the NTA Exit Graduation will be held, with the timing yet to be confirmed

Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
