Job Description
The Nursing Secretary – Monitor Technician (NT) assists the Registered Nurse with basic patient care and administrative duties. Under close supervision, this role continuously monitors cardiac rhythms and promptly reports any changes to the Registered Nurse.
Essential Job Function
- Assists patients with daily tasks, including bathing and shaving in order to support the recovery process.
- Performs hourly rounds to address patient needs, anticipate requirements, and promptly respond to requests for assistance.
- Supports the Registered Nurse by taking vital signs and reporting any patterns or changes in a timely fashion.
- Replenishes equipment and supplies to ensure the unit operates smoothly and efficiently each day.
- Distributes food and supplements to patients in order to ensure they receive the proper nutrition in line with the plan of care.
- Identifies and monitors patients at risk of falls to reduce the likelihood of injury.
- Documents patient information, including logs and labels, for effective and thorough communication with physicians and nurses.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of Cone Health's Basic EKG class within 3 months of hire
Experience
- Required: None
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Good standing as Nurse Aide I with the North Carolina Division of Facilities Services. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
