Essential Job Function:

  • Remaining current and competent in the field requires utilizing literature and actively engaging in regional and national gatherings.
  • Takes part in education sessions designed for patients, staff members, and professional training programs.
  • Involves in educational and research activities comprising didactic resources, structured teaching seminars, teaching in clinical settings, staff education talks, and clinical research endeavors.
  • Liaison: Plays a role in liaison activities with other professional team members and in fostering connections for patient referrals.
  • Ensures that referring physicians are kept in the loop regarding patient care and their status.
  • Offers patient care in assigned areas through direct and indirect means.
  • Offers medical oversight to the interdisciplinary group and guides residents and medical students in fulfilling their designated tasks.
  • Takes part in research projects within the clinical field.
  • Delivers accurate and timely documentation and approval of care to establish updated medical records for billing utilization.
  • - Demonstrates a commitment to upholding the professional standards set forth by MCHS, which encompass the Medical Staff By-Laws, Service Excellence promises, practice benchmarks, physician requirements, and image expectations.

  • Offers medical oversight and leads the interdisciplinary team in maximizing benefits for each individual under care.
  • Maintains a commitment to safe practices and compliance with regulations.
  • Improvement in quality: Actively participates in continual advancements and application of evidence-based methods to strive for superior healthcare and service provision, with outcomes reaching or exceeding the 90th percentile.
  • Ensure records are kept in compliance with MCHS protocols and legal requirements.
  • Plays a role in formulating clinical guidelines, protocols, initiatives, and provides suggestions for enhancing the quality and productivity of healthcare services.
  • Shares specialized on-call tasks with other physicians in the assigned regions.

Education

Required:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board.
  • Also medical degrees from other countries that are equivalent to the United States MD or DO degrees from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board.

Experience

  • Required: Completed appropriate residency training (and fellowship training as required).

Licensure/Certification/Listing

  • REQUIRED Required: Practitioner must have completed the number of years in a residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and met all other requirements for eligibility to receive board certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in the primary medical specialty (or subspecialty) for which the Practitioner is applying for Clinical Privileges. If five (5) or more years have elapsed since the Practitioner completed such residency program, the Practitioner currently must have board-certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in such specialty (or subspecialty). Fully licensed to practice Medicine in the state of NC. Meets requirements of the Moses Cone Health System Medical Staff by-laws and obtains the appropriate level of medical staff privileges. The Practitioner must have a current, and valid DEA registration number, with no involuntary limitations on prescriptive authority (schedule limitations) resulting from DEA disciplinary actions.
