Overview:
The NC Nurse Practice Act necessitates that healthcare providers assess, plan, implement, document, organize, prioritize, delegate, supervise, and coordinate the care of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Responsibilities:
The nursing care provided utilizes the nursing process to develop, implement and evaluate the nursing plan. Data from the patient and/or significant others are collected and analyzed in collaboration with patients, significant others and healthcare providers. The nursing plan is tailored based on age-specific needs, and clinical pathways are available where applicable. Adjustments are made to the plan based on variances and effectiveness of interventions. Up-to-date documentation of care provided is available to keep patients, significant others and healthcare teams informed. Homecare nursing services are identified and done to support the discharge plan. The nurse demonstrates advanced competencies and critical-thinking skills to address any change in patients' conditions. Educational needs for patients and/or significant others are identified and addressed effectively.
Creates nurturing and therapeutic liaison between the healthcare/nursing team, patients, and significant others. Identifies and addresses communication obstacles, ensuring that it is easily accessible for everyone involved. Embraces diversity and respects cultural differences in patients/significant others which may include age, ethnicity, gender, religion, socio-economics, education levels, personality, and other unique traits. Customizes plans to meet the specific needs of patients/individuals in relation to their cultural backgrounds or any other uniqueness. Acts as an advocate for patients and makes sure their voice is heard. Exhibits proficiency in handling customer needs based on the unique context of the situation.
Plays an active role in creating action plans, analyzing data from quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities, and making changes to clinical practice where necessary. Is familiar with regulatory standards set by relevant organizations such as TJC, DFS, and OSHA, and works diligently to ensure adherence by self and colleagues.
Exhibits proficiency in solving conflicts and negotiation to achieve desired outcomes. Fosters an environment conducive to teamwork, positivity, and professionalism, without any disruptive behavior.

RN | Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a Compact state.
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider

The following certifications are preferred and may be required within a certain timeframe of hire as defined by the specific nursing unit.
