Job Description
Collaborating with the Stroke Program Manager, the Stroke Coordinator ensures the delivery of excellent evidence-based care to patients by providing expert nursing consultation, overseeing practices, creating and delivering education on acute strokes, actively engaging in performance enhancement, and putting forth recommendations for program advancement.
Essential Job Function:
- Actively involved in steering the Stroke Program, aiding in the fulfillment of criteria established by stroke center accrediting institutions and regulatory mandates.
- Handles stroke emergencies and changing clinical circumstances by delivering specialized clinical aid and overseeing the transfer process between different services, professionals, and external service providers.
- Aids in the implementation of strategies to improve the performance of the Stroke Program.
- Takes charge of the department's leadership responsibilities by managing orientation, continuing education, and clinical advancement.
- Endorses the enhancement and establishment of necessary and voluntary stroke educational and instructional necessities for the workforce, healthcare professionals, clients, and society.
- Executes tasks that are delegated.
Education:
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Experience:
- Required: 2 years as a Registered Nurse in an acute hospital setting and 1 year of relevant clinical experience specific to stroke patients.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state, Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) through American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider; Stroke nursing certification or Stroke Coordinator certification after 1 year.
