Job Description
CRNAs are skilled APRNs who work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to offer holistic anesthesia and pain management services that are evidence-based and tailored to individual patient needs. They practice in various healthcare settings and manage patients throughout the lifespan, ensuring safe and effective care during surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and pain management procedures.
Essential Job Function:
- The CRNA's clinical obligations are outlined according to the clinical authority they have been granted.
- Supports in compiling, inspecting, and appraising all data concerning the patient's medical and surgical past, taking into account the upcoming procedure.
- Keeps the surroundings secure and reacts effectively to emergencies and potential dangers.
- Prepares and administers medications and fluids in accordance with accepted standards of safe practice.
- It is crucial to stay alert and regularly evaluate the airway, depth of sedation, hydration levels, and the physiological reactions to anesthesia in order to safeguard the patient's well-being.
- Aids in the completion of all essential paperwork: such as the surgical safety checklist, pre-operative assessment, intra-operative anesthesia documentation, and transfer-of-care report.
- Documents incident reports on the computerized Safety Portal.
- Executes any other responsibilities given.
Education
- Required: Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor.
Experience
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: North Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) licensure Recognition as an Advanced Practice RN by the NC Board of Nursing Certification/ Recertification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NCBRNA).BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderACLS CertificationPALs or NPR per campus recommendation
