Job Description
The Food Service Technician performs routine duties in the cafeteria such as stocking supplies, setting up food lines, operating the cash register, cooking short-order grill items, and portioning food to customers in order to ensure customer satisfaction. This role follows established protocols in order to maintain a clean and sanitary work environment in the cafeteria.
Essential Job Function
- Assists in the proper preparation and serving of food in accordance with recipes and standard protocols to ensure the accuracy of food production and prevent excessive food wastage.
- Assisting in handling customer and patient meal orders with a focus on adhering to special diet requests to maintain a high level of food service quality.
- Swiftly handling the assembly, delivery, and removal of food trays in an efficient manner per meal service.
- Ensures the department's sanitation by washing pots, pans, service ware, equipment, walls, doors, and floors, and disposing of trash in the correct manner.
- Helping in the supervision of meal servings, cashier records, and inventory updates to ensure precise stock levels and thorough documentation of business procedures.
- Practices standard recipes and implements specified preparation techniques to comply with dietary requirements, and if necessary, offers a suitable food replacement for specialized dietary plans.
- Follows prescribed steps for the correct storage of food supplies and equipment.
- Manages other designated responsibilities as necessary.
Education
- Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent experience
