Job Description

The Nursing Technician's responsibility involves observing patient conditions and documenting them in support of the Registered Nurse. Tasked with assisting patients with day-to-day tasks and facilitating their movement, this role works closely with supervision. It is important to consider that our float pools are specifically for candidates with prior experience in hospital or acute care settings. Candidates with less than one year of experience are encouraged to opt for a single unit placement.

Essential Job Function

  • Provides aid to patients in daily living functions, such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and advancing physical mobility to enhance their healing process.
  • Examines the quality of life of individuals regarding nourishment, water intake, and excretion to allocate resources and forecast patient necessities.
  • Manages the process of admitting, transferring, and releasing patients to ensure their relocation aligns with the care plan in place.
  • Aids in clinical tasks like monitoring glucose levels, noting vital indicators, taking electrocardiograms, employing restraints as needed, and assisting with toileting to deliver quality and comforting patient care.
  • Supporting in the management of unit inventories for supplies and medical tools is crucial to guarantee a sanitary and protected atmosphere following the National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Ensures that patients prone to falls are provided with the proper arm bands, socks, and signaling mechanisms to safeguard their physical well-being.
  • Assists in documenting all medical processes, patient interactions, and medication utilization to uphold a comprehensive patient background.
  • Efficiently follows up on tasks assigned by registered nurses and communicates relevant patient information for seamless cooperation.
  • Carries out supplemental responsibilities as delegated.

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • Required: None

Licensure/Certification/Listing

  • Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
