Job Description
Overview:
Supporting the Registered Nurse, the Nursing Technician is responsible for observing and documenting patient conditions. This role entails assisting patients with their daily needs and promoting mobility under close supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Assists individuals with daily tasks like meal preparation, self-care, and enhancing mobility to help them recover and follow their care plan effectively.
- Analyzes patients' well-being in relation to their dietary choices, fluids intake, and excretory processes to organize resources efficiently and forecast upcoming patient demands.
- Handles the intake, transit, and departure of patients to effectively transfer them to the required locations as outlined in the care plan.
- Aids in healthcare procedures by checking blood sugar levels, documenting vital signs, performing EKG tests, applying physical restraints, and assisting with toileting to promote patients' well-being and comfort.
- Supports in controlling unit inventories of supplies and healthcare equipment to guarantee a clean and safe ambiance in compliance with the National Patient Safety Goals.
- Ensures that patients with an increased risk of falling possess the appropriate wristbands, socks, and signage to ensure their physical safety.
- Ensures that all clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use are accurately documented to uphold a detailed patient history.
- Reacts promptly to assignments given by registered nurses and exchanges patient observations to support effective collaboration.
- Engages in other duties as directed.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Required: None
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
