Overview:
The Occupational Health Nurse contributes to the delivery of initiatives and facilities designed to nurture and sustain secure and healthful workplace environments for employees. Functioning under tight supervision, the primary focus revolves around promoting and restoring health, preventing illnesses and injuries, and safeguarding employees from occupational and environmental hazards within the organization.
Responsibilities:
Aids in the assessment of the employee community's needs and devises primary, secondary, and tertiary preventive actions along with health promotion strategies to optimize health outcomes and minimize the occurrence of injuries and diseases.
Keeps detailed records of evaluations, treatments, progress, work status, disability assessments, screenings, and educational opportunities.
Assists in administering health screenings and health appraisals (such as physical exams after a job offer, wellness checks, audiometric assessments, vision tests, managing cases of exposure to bloodborne pathogens, and drug tests) to detect and monitor potential health threats to the worker.
Furnishes health promotion rewards and informational tools to enhance employee health and vitality.
Relays necessary health information to the company promptly and in a professional tone, such as updates on work-related injuries, clearance for returning to work, laboratory test outcomes, and drug screening results.
Manages employee health records with precision to comply with departmental, organizational, and statutory criteria.
Preserves the confidentiality of employee healthcare data and medical records.
Undertakes other assigned obligations.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Required: Associate Degree in Nursing
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing
EXPERIENCE:
No prior experience required
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a Compact state
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
