Job Description
The Clinical Medical Assistant Certified II is responsible for delivering coordinated patient care within a team setting, following prescribed treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each patient. Working with supervision in a busy outpatient clinic, this role executes advanced clinical responsibilities, assists in managing daily operations, and fulfills a wide array of clinical and administrative tasks. Proficiency in a diverse range of medical settings, including general and specialized practices, is a prerequisite for this position.
Essential Job Functions
Clinical Support
- Enhances holistic patient assessments by gathering and recording biological, psychological, social, and cultural details with improved accuracy and clinical mindfulness.
- Ensuring patients, equipment, and procedural areas are well-prepared for special medical treatments, maintaining compliance with clinical protocols.
- Backs preventive care efforts such as screenings and healthcare maintenance duties in order to foster patient health.
- Shows the ability to identify irregularities and quickly informs the suitable healthcare professional or member of the care team.
- Follows established clinical guidelines depending on the purpose of the patient's visit, exhibiting strong judgment and knowledge of operational processes.
- Independently carries out designated clinical techniques following necessary instruction and proof of proficiency; these procedures could encompass administering 12-lead EKGs, conducting point-of-care testing, and executing particular respiratory care procedures.
- Ensures that exam rooms are kept tidy, orderly, and properly stocked to assist in the efficient functioning of the clinic.
- Provides support in collecting, labeling, processing, and routing samples while adhering to safety and quality guidelines.
- Provides accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, ensuring all clinical information is recorded according to organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Dispenses medications, which may involve giving immunizations, oral doses, inhalation treatments, injections for therapy, skin evaluations, and other therapeutic interventions, in line with set rules, standards for medical support staff, and medication administration principles directed by healthcare professionals.
Administrative Support
- Efficiently manages appointment coordination, registration procedures, and insurance authentication with improved accuracy and self-sufficiency.
- Executes regular referrals, prior authorizations, and email correspondences using established protocols.
- Receives and manages incoming calls and patient messages utilizing standard practices and standing protocols independently.
- Shows adeptness in utilizing EMR functions, which include documentation capabilities, support for order entries, and tools for communicating with patients.
- Supports clinic operations through assistance with ordering supplies and maintaining inventory records.
Safety & Compliance
- Follows regulatory guidelines and internal protocols consistently.
- Advocates for performing chart audits and being prepared for assessments.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associate Degree in Medical Assisting
Experience:
Required:
- Two (2) years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant Certified.
- An associate degree in medical assisting or related healthcare field may be substituted for one year of required experience.
Participation in a clinical orientation, competency evaluation, and ability to pass a clinical skills assessment and medication administration test within ninety (90) days of hire, and within 3 attempts.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
Required: Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required from one of the following: American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Allied Health - RMA(AAH), National Health career Association (NHA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (RMA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
