The care of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients is delivered with the utmost care and attention, observing the NC Nurse Practice Act, and employing strategies such as assessment, planning, implementation, documentation, organization, prioritization, delegation, supervision, and coordination.
Responsibilities:
By utilizing the nursing process, nursing care is provided that is specific to the requirements of each patient and significant other. Data on patients and significant others are collected, an admission database completed, and in collaboration with patients, significant others, and other healthcare providers, an ongoing assessment is carried out. Clinical pathways are used to create customized, age-specific plans of care. Intervention strategies are monitored, variances in the plan of care identified, and any necessary updates made. Care documents are kept up to date, and healthcare teams, patients, and significant others are kept informed. Discharge plans are developed, and home care needs identified whilst carefully considering patients' changing health. Advanced competencies and critical thinking are utilized, and internal standards and expectations continuously met or exceeded while taking advantage of opportunities to provide education for patients and significant others.
Utilizes personalized strategies to handle differences in culture, diversity, and other unique variables of patients.
Serves as a driving force in cultivating a culture of evidence-based practice, research, and quality improvement to promote positive outcomes. Actively engages in the Shared Governance process, serving as a council member or indirectly supporting activities and decisions made by the council.
Participates in the process of identifying learning needs within the team.
Regularly welcomes feedback from others and also offers constructive feedback to others when necessary.
