Overview:
The low cost tooth clinic is in search of a dental assistant to provide essential support to the volunteer dentists in delivering dental services to the needy.
Responsibilities:
Infection control procedures are vital to keeping patients, physicians, and other hospital staff from being exposed to harmful pathogens
Maintaining a strong association with the other departments and businesses involved in the dental clinic's functioning is essential for its smooth and effective functioning
Through appropriate patient management techniques, individuals with medical conditions can be given necessary support by gaining knowledge about their health conditions and offering appropriate care
Maintain a sufficient stock of supplies to facilitate the smooth operation of the dental clinic/OR by keeping tabs on inventory
A competent Dental Assistant should possess the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently. They should be able to manage their time effectively so that all clinic operations flow smoothly and with minimal delays
Obtain superior quality extraoral and intraoral radiographs with minimal radiation exposure to ensure patient and staff safety
Ensure that patients receive the best possible care by offering timely, effective chairside assistance to the dental team
Proper sterilization of instruments, equipment, materials, and accessories lies in the hands of the individuals who manage them
The maintenance of the operatories and dental equipment in the dental clinic and OR is a crucial task that falls under the purview of this role and accounts for 10% of the work
To maintain proper instrument management, one must ensure that the instrument kits, instrument trays, and accessory equipment are organized in the designated way
Qualifications:
Must be a Dental Assistant I (DA I) per North Carolina Dental Board definitions. Certification of Dental Assisting not required.
EXPERIENCE:
Required - At least one year experience in a dental office with direct patient care, sterilization and inventory control.
Preferred - More than two years of dental assistant experience working with the indigent population.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED
Drivers License | Valid Drivers License
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
Required - Dental Assistant II or higher.
Note - If driving Cone health vehicle, must have 5 years of driving experience and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
