Job Description
The Electrician's job is essential for the smooth and safe operation of electrical systems, involving tasks such as installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. They are required to use a variety of tools and equipment to diagnose electrical issues, conduct repairs, and ensure compliance with electrical codes and regulations. Operating with limited supervision, the role focuses on maintaining electrical systems, fire alarm systems, paging systems, CATV systems, and nurse call systems.
Essential Job Function:
- Installs, upkeeps, and fixes electrical setups, such as wiring, switches, sockets, and light fixtures.
- - Diagnoses and rectifies electrical concerns through circuit analysis, inspecting electric elements, and identifying the underlying reason for breakdowns.
- Maintains compliance with electrical codes and regulations by possessing comprehensive knowledge of local, state, and national guidelines.
- Checks and manages electrical systems to uphold their proper functionality.
- Addresses malfunctions in electrical systems that operate at either elevated or reduced voltage levels.
- Demonstrates familiarity with a diverse array of instruments and gear relevant to the field of electricity, including handheld devices, machinery powered by electricity, diagnostic tools, and specialized devices used for measuring voltage, current, and resistance.
- Demonstrates strong teamwork skills by actively engaging with other electricians, contractors, and maintenance personnel.
- Records are meticulously kept for all electrical services conducted, spanning maintenance, repairs, and installations.
- Looks for ways to grow professionally and stays abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and regulations within the electrical sector.
- Adheres to safety standards by adhering to established safety protocols and guidelines, which involves wearing suitable personal protective gear, practising lockout/tagout procedures, and confirming the de-energization of electrical systems before commencing work.
- Fulfills other responsibilities as designated.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalentPreferred: Associate's degree in electrical or electronics
Experience
- Required: 5 years of industrial commercial electrical experience, preferably in a healthcare, hospitality, or education setting
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Preferred: Electrical Contractor's license
