Job Description
In a hospital setting, the primary responsibility of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Hospital is to assist the Registered Nurse or other medical staff in delivering excellent care to patients. The LPN works closely with the team to develop care plans that are tailored to the hospital's protocols and ensures that equipment is prepared for procedures within the hospital systems.
Essential Job Function:
- Facilitating the care team involves the acquisition of patient history and medical data to create comprehensive case records within hospital medical files.
- Aids in the development and implementation of care strategies as instructed by the Registered Nurse or healthcare professional to address the needs of patients receiving medical care in a hospital setting.
- Ensures adherence to Cone Health guidelines for sterile environments by implementing appropriate techniques and safety protocols.
- Conveys healthcare directions to patients and their loved ones to facilitate understanding of the care regime.
- Responding to urgent situations and potential safety threats necessitates the application of personal protective devices and healthcare facility measures to prevent harm to patients.
- Carries out any other tasks that are delegated.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Diploma in Practical Nursing; Completion of Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) required within 4 years of hire.
- Required: None; New LPN Graduates must be accepted into the Cone Health LPN Academy.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Current LPN license in North Carolina; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
