Job Description
The Nursing Technician aids the Registered Nurse by monitoring and recording patient conditions. Under close supervision, this role helps patients with daily activities and supports progressive mobility as needed.
Essential Job Function
- Assists patients with daily living activities, such as nutrition, hygiene, and guided movement, to aid rehabilitation and fulfill the established care plan.
- Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs.
- Coordinates patient admissions, transfers, and discharges to ensure placement in the correct clinical settings based on the recovery plan.
- Assists with clinical procedures, including monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKG's, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients.
- Oversees inventory levels and equipment maintenance to uphold safety standards and clinical cleanliness.
- Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
- Tracks every procedure and patient interaction alongside medication logs to preserve accurate and thorough healthcare records.
- Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
- Required: None
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
