Job Description
Operating under the Registered Nurse's supervision, the Surgical Technologist Lead aids the team in performing highly complicated procedures both inside and outside a specific area of specialization. By sharing expertise and guidance, this role contributes to the education of staff members and the enhancement of care quality and operational processes.
Essential Job Function:
- Predicts and satisfies the Operating Room's demands for instruments, equipment, and supplies as per the forthcoming surgical timetable.
- Ensures equipment remains sterile by rectifying any breaches in procedure to preserve asepsis.
- Trains and coaches surgical staff members on specific proficiencies and universal safety protocols to improve their knowledge of the human body and its functions.
- Contributing to the surgical team's day-to-day activities includes keeping preference lists current and engaging in efforts to enhance quality assurance and operational efficiency.
- Partners with the surgical team in the OR to inform them of any shifts in a patient's condition, facilitating necessary updates to the care plan.
- Responsible for verifying the competence of Surgical Technologists and actively contributing to the fulfillment and reinforcement of departmental aspirations and missions via committee participation.
- Executes any other responsibilities as delegated.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Graduate of a Surgical Technology accredited through ARC/STSA or equivalent military training with surgical tech experience
Experience
- Required: 5 years of surgical technologist experience.
