Job Description
The Ultrasound Technologist conducts ultrasound scans using advanced technology to determine, evaluate, and document crucial functional, pathological, and anatomical details. This role entails being on-call for emergency cases and off-hours appointments, such as evenings, weekends, and public holidays, to support continuous access to diagnostic services for patients. With supervision, the Ultrasound Technologist validates the accuracy and quality of ultrasound examinations, enabling healthcare professionals to make well-founded decisions concerning patient management and contributing to the provision of exceptional healthcare experiences for patients.
Essential Job Function:
- Executes exceptional routine and specific ultrasound tests adhering to approved protocols and methods to limit the occurrence of redo exams and contribute to the precise identification and management of patients, ensuring the best patient care.
- Maintains a safe and comforting environment for patients undergoing ultrasound scans by elucidating the process, attending to concerns, and correctly positioning patients to foster a favorable patient interaction.
- Responsible for the functioning and care of ultrasound equipment, troubleshooting technical complications, and refining imaging configurations to deliver excellent image clarity and aid in precise medical evaluation.
- Records precise patient information, examination particulars, and preliminary findings in the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), rectifies any discrepancies in the final content forwarded to PACS for the maintenance of accurate patient records and the establishment of comprehensive documentation to support effective communication and sustained care management.
- Engages in productive collaboration and communication with healthcare team members like radiologists, doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure timely sharing of crucial information for patient care.

Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a Radiology, Imaging or related educational program
Experience
- Required: 2+ years
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required:BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderARDMS Ultrasound Technologist, ARRT RT(S) Ultrasound Technologist or CCI RVSRVT/RVS Registered Vascular Technologist required for sites without onsite Vascular Lab (APH, ARMC, & MedCenters)Where required, all current Cone Health Sonographers will have 2-years to successfully complete RVT requirement. Any new candidate sonographer will have 16 months to successfully complete RVT requirement.Additional Information on required licensure/certification/registry/listings:OB/GYN and/or ABDOMEN and/or BREAST and/or VASCULAR and/or PEDSPreferred:RVT/RVS Registered Vascular Technologist preferred for sites with onsite Vascular Lab (MCH & WLH)
