Job Description
The Mobile Integrated Health Community Paramedic (MIH/CP) is a vital component in shaping the future of healthcare delivery by offering appropriate care, when needed, and in the appropriate setting. This skilled clinician is proficient in conducting medical assessments, treatments, and stabilizations under close medical supervision. They respond to both pre-planned and immediate healthcare requests from the Hospital at Home team, with oversight and directives provided by the Hospital at Home provider. Consequently, they must possess the capacity to autonomously conduct procedures such as commencing intravenous access, phlebotomy, and administering medication under supervision. The MIH/CP supports care continuity by engaging with patients, healthcare providers, and other healthcare staff members.
Essential Job Function:
- Conducts interventions and therapies in accordance with the permissible scope of practice, informed by organizational guidelines, accessible assets, and the particular needs of the patient under the Hospital at Home initiative.
- Evaluating and applying medication orders appropriately.
- Install Remote Patient Monitoring equipment as necessary.
- Capably manages resources at HAH while utilizing time wisely.
- Upholds the privacy of patient, personnel, and establishment-related information.
- Shows skill in employing departmental and organizational information systems and utilizing supplies and resources associated with patient care.
- Embraces the duty of self-education to stay informed with the latest developments; acquires and sustains knowledge concerning various health conditions and medications specific to the Hospital at Home patient group.
- Having the capacity to analyze situations thoughtfully and modify the distribution of patients based on their acuteness and the demands of the healthcare setting.
- Maintains regular communication and exhibits professional conduct when engaging with patients, families, and fellow staff members through verbal and written means.
- Undertakes extra work responsibilities as designated depending on the demands of the Hospital at Home division.
- Carries out any other tasks as specified.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma
Experience
- Required: A minimum of 3 years' experience in a 911, community paramedicine or acute healthcare setting. Strong clinical/procedural skills required. Must be deemed competent by Health at Home Medical Director and the Cone Health MIH/CP onboarding and release to practice standard
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Active North Carolina State Paramedic Certification Must obtain CPC (certified community paramedic) certification within 18 months of hire BLS (CPR-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider ACLS - American Red Cross or Healthcare Provider Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
