Job Description

Overview:

The Electroencephalogram Technician II is responsible for administering medical examinations that analyze the brain's electrical signals, aiding in the identification of ailments like epilepsy, sleep disturbances, and brain cancer. This role involves executing both standard and intricate EEG tests and adjustments, adhering to established guidelines and legal mandates to produce precise and trustworthy findings. Under moderate oversight, the technician also manages and resolves issues with EEG machinery to maintain peak functionality.

Responsibilities:

Conducts regular and intricate EEG examinations, such as verifying impedance, administering photic stimulation, inducing hyperventilation, and utilizing video surveillance, in adherence to professional guidelines and regulations, aiding in precise neurological evaluations and diagnoses.

Identifying and minimizing artifact contamination in EEG and video recordings is crucial.

Ensures the functionality of EEG devices through regular calibration and problem-solving procedures to guarantee the accuracy and effectiveness of EEG tests.

Compiles test results and manages test records, collecting patient backgrounds and pertinent medication details to assist the neurologist in making precise diagnoses, devising treatment strategies, and tracking patient advancements.

Ensures the availability of EEG equipment and keeps the testing area tidy, following infection control measures to create a secure and sterile testing environment that enhances patient safety.

One way to improve patient understanding and cooperation during an EEG test is by describing the EEG process and necessary preparations in detail for the patient. This can help alleviate any anxiety or uncertainty the patient may have about the procedure.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Graduate from an accredited training program in Neurodiagnostics or a combination of education and experience

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 3 years

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED

Required:

Registered EEG Technologist

BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
