Job Description

Overview:

The Nursing Technician works alongside the Registered Nurse to document and observe patient conditions. This role involves helping patients with daily tasks and supporting their mobility under the guidance of the nurse.

Responsibilities:

  • Aids patients in their daily living responsibilities, such as eating, personal grooming, and improving mobility to assist in their recovery and care program.
  • Assesses the quality of life of individuals with regards to nutrition, hydration, and waste management to determine resource distribution and anticipate future patient care requirements.
  • Admits patients, relocates them, and releases them according to the treatment scheme to ensure they are in the correct settings.
  • Helps with medical procedures such as tracking blood sugar, recording crucial vital statistics, administering electrocardiograms, using necessary restrictions, and addressing bathroom necessities in order to provide patients with optimal comfort.
  • Helps in organizing unit stock of supplies and medical tools to ensure a hygienic and secure environment as outlined in the National Patient Safety Goals.
  • The importance of appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage in maintaining the physical safety of patients prone to falls is emphasized.
  • Contributes to the recording of clinical processes, patient engagement, and medication administration to maintain an extensive patient record.
  • Shows quick responses to delegated tasks from the nursing staff and communicates patient assessments for improved teamwork.
  • Handles any additional responsibilities delegated.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

Required: None

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:

Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
