Job Description

Overview:

The Nursing Technician provides support to the Registered Nurse by observing and documenting patient conditions. This role entails assisting patients with daily tasks and promoting progressive mobility under supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care.
  • Assesses the overall quality of life of patients by considering their nutrition, hydration, and elimination patterns to ensure proper distribution of resources and anticipate individual requirements.
  • Handles the intake, transit, and departure of patients to effectively transfer them to the required locations as outlined in the care plan.
  • Supports in clinical practices by monitoring blood glucose, recording vital indicators, obtaining electrocardiograms, implementing restraints, and addressing elimination needs to ensure patients receive attentive and comfortable care.
  • Assists in regulating unit inventories of supplies and medical apparatus to maintain a clean and safe ambiance following the National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Confirms the presence of the required wristbands, socks, and signage for patients susceptible to falls to mitigate any potential physical harm.
  • Supports in documenting every clinical process, patient communication, and utilization of medications in order to preserve a thorough patient background.
  • Reacts promptly to assignments from the nursing team and communicates patient findings for effective teamwork.
  • Carries out any other responsibilities given.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

Required: None

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:

Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
