Job Description
The Pediatric Teaching program, along with the PICU and pediatric specialists, constitute the foundation for the Pediatric Primary Care residency and pediatric rotations for UNC medical students. An opportunity exists for individuals to partake in a research assistant internship focusing on pediatric research initiatives.
The internship role is a limited-duration position that includes a commencement date and onboarding process on... Interns are expected to dedicate a maximum of 250 hours throughout this time frame.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist pediatric faculty with scholarly endeavors, including projects related to research and quality improvement
- Aid in gathering data from EPIC for the purpose of supporting research initiatives
- Assist faculty members in project development through the application of research design fundamentals
- Aid in drafting academic papers or compiling visual presentations for scholarly assignments
Learning Outcomes:
- Acquire real-world experience with research techniques
- Improve proficiency in data retrieval and working with EPIC and EXCEL applications
- Cultivate professional bonds with residents, medical trainees, and pediatric healthcare providers to enhance collaboration and communication in the medical field
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with research is preferred, but required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn.
- Respectful of cross-cultural differences and aligned with Cone Health s values.
Education
- Required: Must be in process of a college-level degree in a related field and a student in good standing.Applicants must be at least the age of 16 to be employed as Cone Health High School-level interns (work-authorization required).
- Junior, senior, or graduate student with a minimum 3.3 GPA.
- Degree majors in biology, physiology, psychology, public health and/or intention to apply for medical school.
