Overview:
The Nursing Technician - Nursing Secretary supports the unit with clerical and receptionist duties while also supporting the Registered Nurse with patient care. Working under close supervision, this role provides basic care and communication support for patients, families, and hospital staff.
Responsibilities:
- Helps clients with basic personal hygiene needs, such as washing, grooming, and recording vital signs to assist in their ability to move and regain health.
- Delivers food and dietary additions to individuals under care and alerts the RN of any notable alterations in patient health.
- Helping with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges plays a vital role in ensuring timely patient care and bed availability.
- Helps the Registered Nurse by completing regular rounds and attending to patient needs in different units.
- Tracks the inventory of supplies, equipment, and instruments and procures supplementary materials as necessary to ensure the smooth running of daily operations.
- Lists charges and accommodation markers to uphold meticulous record management in the hospital.
- Scrutinizes equipment performance and communicates maintenance and repair demands to uphold operational integrity and prevent patient injuries.
- Manages simple receptionist duties, such as responding to phone calls and greeting visitors, to aid clients and customers.
- Undertakes supplementary duties as instructed.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:Required: None.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
