Job Description
The role entails providing patient care, managing clinical duties, and coordinating teamwork within specific areas. Educating residents, interns, and other students in the medical field forms an integral part of this position. Moreover, the individual actively participates in promoting medical research activities in the working environment. Displaying sound judgment, the individual independently diagnoses and treats patients, devises appropriate treatment plans, and oversees the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care plan outcomes.
Essential Job Function:
- Remaining professionally competent involves utilizing literature and participating in regional and national meetings in education and training.
- Involves themselves in educational activities tailored for those receiving inpatient care, staff, and professionals.
- Takes part in educational and investigative undertakings, including didactic resources, structured teaching sessions, educational seminars for staff, and research endeavors.
- Coordination: Involves coordinating liaison tasks with other professionals and establishing networks for patient referrals.
- Keeps referring healthcare providers well-informed about patient conditions and treatment outcomes.
- Administers patient care directly or indirectly in designated zones.
- Supervises the interdisciplinary team medically and guides residents and medical students through their designated duties.
- Involves themselves in clinical projects that capture their interest.
- Providing precise and prompt documentation and endorsement of care to establish contemporary medical records for billing needs.
- Models the professional benchmarks established by MCHS, which include compliance with the Medical Staff By-Laws, dedication to Service Excellence objectives, adherence to practice standards, meeting physician expectations, and following guidelines for maintaining a professional image.
- Operates cooperatively with the MCHS mission, vision, and values.
- Displays collaborative and considerate relationships with colleagues, patients, partners, family, and visitors.
- Follows the values of the Socratic Oath, upholds patient privacy, and behaves with honesty and ethicality in all circumstances.
- Works congruently with the goals and standards of MCHS to ensure success.
- Involvement in medical audits, programs for enhancing quality, investigations, peer evaluations, and relevant inquiries about professional care standards may be required.
- Guides and supervises the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal results for each patient under their care.
- Ensures that operational practices are in alignment with safety standards and regulatory obligations.
- Ongoing Quality Betterment: Focuses on consistent advancements and integration of evidence-informed strategies to advance superior healthcare and service excellence, targeting outcomes that rank in the 90th percentile or higher.
- Ensure records are maintained in compliance with the regulations of MCHS and the law.
- Plays a role in developing clinical standards, processes, schemes, and suggestions to elevate the caliber and effectiveness of healthcare provision.
- Divides on-call duties among physician colleagues within the designated departments.
Education
- Required: Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board.
- Also medical degrees from other countries that are equivalent to the United States MD or DO degrees from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board.
Experience
- Required: Completed appropriate residency training (and fellowship training as required).
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- REQUIRED Required: Practitioner must have completed the number of years in a residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and met all other requirements for eligibility to receive board certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in the primary medical specialty (or subspecialty) for which the Practitioner is applying for Clinical Privileges. If five (5) or more years have elapsed since the Practitioner completed such residency program, the Practitioner currently must have board-certification recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in such specialty (or subspecialty). Fully licensed to practice Medicine in the state of NC. Meets requirements of the Moses Cone Health System Medical Staff by-laws and obtains the appropriate level of medical staff privileges. The Practitioner must have a current, and valid DEA registration number, with no involuntary limitations on prescriptive authority (schedule limitations) resulting from DEA disciplinary actions.
