Job Description
Under supervision, the Radiologic Technologist Weekend Option readies individuals for diagnostic imaging procedures by positioning them correctly and executing the scan or X-ray. Followed by the image creation, a physician interprets the results for diagnosis purposes. Workers dedicating themselves to the weekend option are obliged to adhere to the Weekend Option requirements, undertaking two shifts within this timeframe to receive an enhanced compensation package.
Essential Job Function:
- Complies with directives given by doctors concerning the region on the patient's body that needs to be scanned.
- Assists the patient by explaining the steps involved in the procedure and addressing any questions they may have to reduce their anxiety levels and improve their understanding of the treatment.
- Duly situates the patient and fine-tunes the imaging apparatus to the prescribed posture in order to generate precise images of particular body regions.
- Prevents unwarranted radiation exposure, benefiting both healthcare workers and patients.
- Follows correct techniques and procedures such as patient shielding to ensure adherence to ensure accurate and reliable diagnostic imaging services.
- Ensures that all documentation is completed for every procedure to maintain comprehensive patient records and enhance communication within the healthcare team.
- Carries out any other responsibilities as required.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: ARRT (R); Radiologic Technologist - DxBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
- A Registered Radiologic Technologist holding a certification in CPR from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association is needed.
