Job Description
The Environmental Service Technician ensures the cleanliness and disinfection of patient areas, treatment areas, restrooms, and public spaces in adherence to the hospital's departmental standards to fulfill customer service requirements. This position works under supervision to maintain environmental and infection control standards set by external regulatory bodies to prevent the transmission of diseases.
Essential Job Function
- Accurate documentation of items was maintained by recording cleaning tasks on the appropriate forms.
- Regularly updates the supervisor on current tasks and works together to address any complex or urgent issues.
- Assists in monitoring supply levels to ensure they are aligned with both departmental requirements and budgetary limitations.
- Supports the maintenance of equipment and storage spaces to promote efficient departmental procedures.
- Ensures the cleanliness of carpets by promptly addressing and removing stains to enhance the environment for guests and patients.
- Enables to pick suitable cleaning products and machinery to prevent destruction and efficiently sanitize for reducing health risks.
- Meets customer expectations by cleaning in accordance with departmental standards, which involve routine and weekly cleaning as well as cleaning tasks in discharge rooms, medication rooms, IV storage rooms, and refrigerators.
- Avoids handling medications and is guided when entering areas where narcotics are stored.
- Adjustments are made based on the prioritization of needs to ensure that the most crucial ones are addressed first.
- Carries out additional tasks as required.
Education:
- Required: Associate degree in nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in nursing.
Experience:
- Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse.
- Preferred: 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
