Job Description
To meet the customer service needs of the hospital, the Environmental Service Technician is tasked with cleaning and disinfecting patient areas, treatment areas, restrooms, and public spaces according to departmental standards. Operating under close supervision, this role follows environmental and infection prevention standards mandated by external regulatory agencies to prevent the spread of illnesses.
Essential Job Function
- Proper forms were utilized to accurately record cleaning tasks and document items.
- Maintains proactive communication with the supervisor to keep them informed about current responsibilities and resolve any complex or urgent matters.
- Supports in balancing supply needs with budgetary goals by monitoring and adjusting inventory levels.
- Helps to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of equipment and storage areas for the efficient operation of the department.
- Proactively treats and eliminates carpet stains to sustain a clean and welcoming appearance for visitors and those receiving care.
- Helps in the choice and application of cleaning solutions and devices to protect against harm and disinfect thoroughly to decrease illness risks within a space.
- Ensures customer satisfaction through cleaning activities that adhere to departmental standards, covering routine and weekly cleaning requirements in areas like discharge, medication rooms, IV storage rooms, and refrigerators.
- Abstains from physical contact with medications and is always accompanied in spaces where narcotics are kept.
- Prioritizing needs requires reevaluating them and making appropriate changes as needed to meet the most important requirements.
- Executes any other responsibilities designated.
Education:
- Required: Associate degree in nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in nursing.
Experience:
- Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse.
- Preferred: 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
