Job Description
In the role of Speech Language Pathologist II, individuals diagnose and provide therapy for patients with speech disorders, language impairments, voice problems, stuttering, swallowing difficulties, and cognitive challenges. They are proficient in delivering comprehensive care within their clinical practice area and executing all job responsibilities in speech language pathology with minimal supervision. This position mandates self-sufficiency in their main work environment and may necessitate guidance when dealing with intricate cases or adapting to new settings. Additionally, this role fosters communication among team members from different fields, manages familiar patients with assurance, and serves as an advocate for both their patients and co-workers.
Essential Job Function:
- Examines and manages a variety of diagnoses and challenging patients.
- Conducts in-depth evaluations for patients with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing issues, focusing on their communication and oral function.
- Involvement in designing and applying personalized treatment programs founded on evidence and individualized to meet patients' goals and specific needs.
- Offers education to patients and their loved ones about treatment protocols, home-based physical activities, and strategies for self-care to enhance healing progress.
- Tracks and records the development of patients, the effectiveness of treatments, and reactions to interventions to enable necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
- Collaborates with a team to develop and put into action discharge strategies and advice for ongoing support.
- Provides information on the latest developments and existing situation to the proper stakeholders, like family members or medical experts.
- Aids in orienting and instructing new team members, displays a persistent drive to elevate the performance and capabilities of peers.
- Completes tasks as directed.
Education:
- Required: Master's degree in Speech Pathology.
Experience:
- Required: 2 years.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is eligible to receive it through a Clinical Fellowship Year. Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during their Supervised Experience Year and BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
