Job Description
Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Surgical Technologist II supports the medical team in administering surgical care to patients by validating health information and overseeing the individual's condition. Tasked with performing first and second scrub tasks, as well as organizing the operating table for complex procedures, this role operates under general supervision. It is essential in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of surgical interventions.
Essential Job Function:
- Maintains asepsis by avoiding the contact of sterile equipment with unsterile surfaces or objects.
- Keeps track of patient health developments to modify the care regimen accordingly.
- Executes fundamental scrub tasks and organizes the operating room layout to establish a sterile and well-equipped setting for surgical operations.
- Assembles resources and verifies tools to guarantee that all essential items are set for the surgical procedure.
- Validates health status details of patients with the circulating nurse to ensure a thorough documentation of the patient's well-being.
- Executes any other responsibilities as delegated.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Graduate of a Surgical Technology accredited through ARC/STSA or equivalent military training with surgical tech experience
Experience
- Required: 1 year surgical tech experience
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderCertified Surgical Technologist (CST). Surgical Technologists hired prior to 12/31/2017 will have the certification requirement waived. If the CST credential was held on 12/31/17, credential must be maintained without lapse.
