Job Description
The Triage Specialist conducts assessments for individuals with psychiatric or substance abuse issues, providing evaluation, consultation, and referrals as needed. This position caters to a wide range of patient populations, encompassing adults, the elderly, and children. The main focus is on evaluating patients' needs and the severity of their conditions to facilitate informed decisions about the most suitable rehab services.
Essential Job Function
- Swiftly evaluates patients with behavioral requirements to identify potential complications due to their condition and alerts the correct personnel to avoid detrimental treatments.
- Performs a comprehensive assessment of behavioral health to identify the most appropriate care option for the patient.
- Partners with doctors to assess patients dealing with psychiatric or substance abuse challenges and make decisions regarding their care and treatment that prioritize the patients' welfare.
- Logs and records patient engagements to support healthcare providers in deciding on the best course of action or to have pertinent data available if required.
- Utilizes effective communication strategies to connect with patients and healthcare professionals, fostering trust and understanding to facilitate the exchange of relevant information.
- Engages in other tasks as delegated.
Education:
- Required: Master's in counseling or a related field.
Experience:
- Required: 1 year experience in Healthcare (Psychiatry preferred).
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: North Carolina provisional license in one of the following: LCMHC Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) or licensed psychologist.
