Job Description
In collaboration with the Registered Nurse, the Nurse Technician Observer is responsible for overseeing patient conditions and ensuring their safety. This role requires working closely with patients, aiding them in their day-to-day needs, and promoting their mobility within the healthcare facility. The main goal of this position is to assist in maintaining a secure environment for individuals who are vulnerable to self-harm.
Essential Job Function
- Aids patients in managing their daily living needs, such as eating, hygiene routines, and developing increased mobility as part of their recovery process and care strategy.
- Analyzes the quality of life of individuals by examining their nutrition, hydration, and elimination status to effectively plan for the provision of necessary resources and forecast potential patient demands.
- Administers the process of admitting, transferring, and releasing patients to relocate them to the correct facilities as per the care plan.
- Provides assistance in addressing patient elimination requirements, which may involve managing ostomies, administering enemas, and utilizing condom catheters to ensure patients' well-being.
- Aids in the management of unit supplies and equipment inventory to guarantee a sanitary and secure atmosphere aligning with the National Patient Safety Goals.
- Verifies that patients prone to falls are provided with proper armbands, socks, and signage to safeguard their physical safety.
- Executes any other responsibilities as directed.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
- Required: 1 year of related experience
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider. Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required.
