Job Overview
Job Description
Overview:
Cone Health offers residency and fellowship programs in collaboration with its affiliated institutions, ensuring they adhere to the guidelines set by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and its Residency Review Committees. Graduates of these programs are eligible for certification from specialty boards approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).
Responsibilities:
Engage in the assessment and treatment of individuals in diverse healthcare environments regularly to attain the necessary skills outlined by their field under the guidance of senior medical professionals. Residents are authorized to input directives and update medical records, yet overseeing physicians are ultimately accountable for managing the patients treated by residents.
Carry out the procedures outlined by individual program directors while being closely supervised by attending physicians. Upon successful completion of the necessary number of procedures to demonstrate proficiency, the program director will assess when the resident can be authorized to independently perform the procedure.
Take on increasing responsibility for patient care tasks based on the resident's educational background, skills, and familiarity. The resident's level of autonomy and duty will be decided by the program director and instructors.
Maintaining open and consistent communication with their supervising attending and care teams regarding their assessment results, physical examination, analysis of diagnostic tests, and planned interventions is crucial.
Engage actively in the academic and research endeavors of the program and, when necessary, take on the role of instructing and overseeing fellow residents and learners.
Engage in relevant institutional committees and councils that have a direct impact on their education and patient care, such as those involved in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
Formulate a customized plan for ongoing professional development in collaboration with mentors from the academic staff.
Follow all rules and regulations, which encompass the GME Policies, the residency training programs, and the guidelines of any linked institution where the resident might serve.
