Job Description

Overview:

Tasked with overseeing pharmacy technician activities, the Supervisor ensures that medications are dispensed accurately and efficiently while also managing inventory control and contributing to the pharmacy department's overall operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and manages the daily activities of pharmacy technicians, ensuring they follow established policies, procedures, and regulatory obligations, as well as handling human resource duties.
  • Provides support and aid to pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals in managing medications and caring for patients.
  • Supports pharmacy technicians in their growth and adherence to best practices and quality standards through mentoring and training initiatives.
  • Consistently updates and maintains records and documentation for pharmacy duties, which include dispensing medications, monitoring inventory levels, and organizing patient data.
  • Handles any additional responsibilities as reasonably needed or given.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred: Associate degree in pharmacy technology or other degree

EXPERIENCE:

Required: At least 7-years of experience working in a comparable pharmacy setting

Preferred: Leadership experience and involvement in regulatory compliance activities or oversight

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required:

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT); Pharmacy technician certification through PTCB or NHA prior to hire. Registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire.

Advanced Certification (i.e. Controlled Substance Diversion Prevention, Medication History, Hazardous Drug Management, etc.) in the area the technician supervises or Leadership program within 12 months of hire.
