The Phlebotomist II is tasked with gathering and handling blood samples of high quality, guaranteeing correct patient identification and generating precise diagnostic outcomes. This position operates under close supervision and is accountable for managing and arranging supplies, as well as using lab and hospital systems to correctly record lab procedures within designated timeframes. As a crucial member of the healthcare team, the Phlebotomist II aids physicians in making precise diagnoses and offering high-caliber patient treatment.
Responsibilities:
Gathers top-notch blood samples and upholds iSTAT proficiency to guarantee accurate Point-of-Care (POC) testing results and assist in efficient patient treatment.
Ensuring accurate patient identification is crucial in minimizing rejected blood bank specimens, reducing labeling mistakes, and preventing patient misidentification or specimen mislabeling to promote error-free transfusions and diagnostic procedures.
Enhances communication when handing over duties between shifts to minimize mistakes and maintain a smooth flow of patient care.
Ensures the availability of necessary resources such as phlebotomy equipment, workstations, and electronic communication tools to optimize the phlebotomy process, reducing interruptions and promoting a smooth operational flow.
Regular inspections are conducted on carts to verify the phlebotomy inventory's freshness, cleanliness, and organization, ensuring it is replenished daily to enhance the efficiency of phlebotomy processes.
Utilizes laboratory and hospital software systems to ensure precise record-keeping, such as compiling lists, tracking pending items, managing unreceived reports, and labeling specimens, in order to adhere to specified completion times and facilitate the efficient monitoring of samples and prompt patient treatment.
Carries out additional tasks as required.

Required:
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
Current Phlebotomy certification from one of the following approved agencies:
ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) OR
ASPT (American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians) OR
NHA (National Healthcareer Association).
Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant or Medical Laboratory Assistant by ASCP or AMT is acceptable.
Current Licensed Advanced EMT/Paramedic Or Certified MT/MLT (ASCP, AMT)
