Job Description

Overview:

In the capacity of a Certified Medical Assistant, one is responsible for delivering coordinated patient care in alignment with the directives of the healthcare provider, utilizing appropriate care plans that meet the patient's condition, needs, and age requirements. Functioning under supervision, this role supports nursing, laboratory, administrative, and Physician staff to promote positive patient results and provide quality care.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates in the collection of patient data, incorporating biological, psychological, social, and cultural considerations.
  • Logs details such as vital signs and enacts the care regimen under the provider's guidance.
  • Administers protocols and standing orders corresponding to the patient's complaint or reason for their appointment.
  • Undertakes 12-lead EKG procedures, implements select respiratory care measures, and carries out assigned patient care duties within demonstrated competencies and provided training.
  • Conducts the administration of both oral and injectable medications, which can consist of immunizations, controlled substances, therapeutic injections, skin evaluations, and other forms of treatment modalities, in adherence to designated policies, procedures, and the norms of medical assisting, with the direction provided by supervising physicians.
  • Manages the completion of prior authorizations for medications and conveys physician prescriptions to pharmacies through phone and fax as required.
  • - Manages appointment schedules, giving precedence to patients in urgent need and ensuring efficient patient turnover.
  • Records all medical assistant duties accurately, completely, and in a timely fashion within the medical documentation.
  • Acquires the proper prior authorizations or pre-certifications in adherence to safety regulations for patient treatment.
  • Transmits information regarding patient well-being, queries, and apprehensions to nursing staff and doctor for the purpose of managing and addressing them accordingly.
  • Engages in additional responsibilities as given.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred: Medical Assistant Program

EXPERIENCE:

Required: None

Preferred: Completion of medical assistant program including clinical rotation and physician office experience

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required:

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required from one of the following: American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Allied Health - RMA(AAH), National Health career Association (NHA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (RMA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
  • BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
  • Participation in a clinical orientation, competency evaluation, and ability to pass a clinical skills assessment and medication administration test within ninety (90) days of hire, and within 3 attempts.**
